Start of sea trials for the Suffren submarine

The Ministry of the Armed Forces welcomed the Suffren’s first dive at sea, which took place on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, off the coast of Cherbourg.

This decisive milestone marks the start of sea trials for the first of six nuclear-powered attack submarines in the Barracuda program. These trials, which began in the English Channel, will last several months before the submarine is delivered to the French Navy and assigned to the Toulon base.
