The France Libre, successor to the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle

Aircraft carriers is a key tool for projecting force around the globe. They ensure the aero-based component of deterrence. Its nuclear propulsion will enable it to reach a speed of 27 knots, like the Charles de Gaulle, despite having nearly twice its tonnage (78,000 metric tons versus 42,000 metric tons).

our role

2 onboard nuclear reactors K22

TechnicAtome is the prime contractor for the design and construction of the aircraft carrier’s nuclear reactors. The K22 reactors, featuring an entirely new design, are the most powerful naval propulsion systems ever designed in France. They will generate energy that will be converted into electricity to power the ship’s propulsion system, support shipboard operations, meet the needs of life aboard, and power the aircraft’s electromagnetic catapults.
