Transformative technologies

At the heart of innovation

The innovation developed by TechnicAtome encompasses not only technologies but also testing facilities and work methods. It aims to enable the company to remain at the cutting edge and deliver nuclear reactors with the best performance.

Using innovation to support our teams

Virtual reality, augmented reality, new processes, AI, robotics, digital twins, additive manufacturing… innovation translates into concrete solutions that enhance the reliability of facilities, optimize industrial performance, and support the evolution of our industry. TechnicAtome anticipates the gradual transformation of its business lines and integrates technological innovations not only into manufacturing processes but also, from the design phase onward, into engineering models and data management.

Innovation

TA’s innovation lab

At TA’s innovation laboratory (LITA), engineers specialising in new technologies carry out R&D work centred on four key areas: artificial intelligence and data science, robotics and embedded systems, immersive technologies, and connected sensors and new forms of connectivity. LITA is a creative space where prototypes can be tested and developed.

In 2025, TechnicAtome stepped up its innovation activities with the opening of a new laboratory in Aix-en-Provence. This 300 m² facility, dedicated to R&D and new technologies, complements the LITA premises in Cadarache.

Developing the reactors of tomorrow

TechnicAtome is committed to a strategy of developing disruptive innovations. Our ambition to explore new technological building blocks for the next generation of nuclear propulsion will enable us to maintain the highest level of performance in our nuclear reactors and continue to meet growing demands. Beyond the breakthroughs these technologies will bring, they are also expected to result in time savings and, consequently, cost savings.

Additive manufacturing

TechnicAtome is developing expertise in additive manufacturing for nuclear reactor projects. This “3D printing” manufacturing technology offers unprecedented design freedom by enabling the production of parts that cannot be manufactured using conventional machining methods. TechnicAtome is contributing to the Arqane project, a winner of the France 2030 program, which aims to demonstrate the maturity of additive manufacturing technologies for the nuclear industry.

Artificial intelligence

TechnicAtome deploys artificial intelligence solutions to simplify the design and operation of nuclear facilities. In particular, our teams have developed an automated system for identifying circuit lineages using AI algorithms.

Radiometric robot

TechnicAtome carries out innovative robotics projects to facilitate human operations and, in particular, reduce radiation exposure.

Optical fibre

TechnicAtome is participating in the 3F2E project (French Fiber Industry for Extreme Environments), a partnership among French manufacturers supported by France 2030. The project aims to establish a national manufacturing industry for “ruggedized” optical fiber by developing metal coatings—a technology currently lacking to produce a 100% French product. The use of optical fiber is a forward-looking solution for instrumentation in nuclear environments.
