2020 financial results : solid results and outlook
8 April 2021
The financial statements for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2020, were approved by TechnicAtome’s Board of Directors on March 18, 2021.
With revenue down slightly to €400 million, an unprecedented profit margin of 14%, and an order backlog that continues to strengthen, TechnicAtome had a very strong 2020 despite the health crisis—a year that confirms the momentum the company has maintained for several years. On the operational front, the company saw its projects progress as planned and new opportunities emerge that will solidify its long-term role as a key industrial player in naval nuclear propulsion.
Continuing to hire across all its engineering, manufacturing, operations, and maintenance divisions, TechnicAtome maintained the trend of previous years and reached a workforce of 1,700 employees in early 2021.
The year was marked by sea trials of the first Suffren-class nuclear-powered attack submarine, which took place between April 26 and November 6, the date of its official acceptance by the Navy. And, mirroring the success of the Barracuda program, the year was marked by operational results in line with forecasts, including the initiation of power-up of the Cadarache test reactor and the final assembly of the core assembly at the Jules Horowitz reactor construction site. The decision to equip the future aircraft carrier with nuclear propulsion served as the culmination of the expectations and the long-term trust placed in TechnicAtome by government authorities. “2020 will remain unforgettable, and TechnicAtome’s results are a source of great pride for all our employees, as the impact of the pandemic did not cause the company to stray from its course. Bolstered by the government’s decisions regarding the future aircraft carrier and, in recent days, the launch of the new SSBN program, we have many years of recruitment, training, and exciting work ahead of us,” said Loïc Rocard, CEO of TechnicAtome.
