TechnicAtome presented its ‘human-machine interface’ activity at the naval science day
3 February 2022
On Wednesday, February 2, TechnicAtome participated in the17thedition of Naval Science Day at the Naval Academy in Brest, dedicated to the topic of HMIs—Human-Machine Interfaces—in a complex naval environment.
Held annually, this educational scientific event provided TechnicAtome with the opportunity to present a joint lecture on “The Design of HMI for nuclear reactor operations—The Role of Human Factors.” David Garçon, General Operations Engineer and Project Manager (PFE), and Christophe Pierre, Head of HMI Activities, began by defining reactor plant operations before discussing the associated HMIs. Human-machine interfaces in the context of reactor plant operation encompass the various digital (displays, on-screen controls) and physical (switches, local controls) means required by operators to control and operate the reactor plant in all operating situations (normal, incidental, or accident conditions).
TechnicAtome’s presentation was praised by Admiral Baudonnière, Commandant of the Naval Academy. This event, which brings together speakers from industry and institutions, also serves as an opportunity to strengthen ties between our company and the Naval Academy. TechnicAtome regularly hosts cadets for their three-month end-of-studies internship.
