TechnicAtome and ECA Group sign a partnership agreement for the electrical system of futur submarines

As part of the third-generation nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines (SNLE) program, TechnicAtome and ECA Group recently signed a major contract for the development of their electrical systems. The signing of the contract marks the program’s progress into its implementation phase.
The contract was awarded following a competitive bidding process involving various manufacturers, a process that kept TechnicAtome’s teams busy for over a year. ECA Group is one of the specialized manufacturers among TechnicAtome’s panel of equipment suppliers for power electronics; it was selected for its innovative solutions that meet the requirements of a nuclear propulsion plant: reliability, safety, performance, and durability.

Beyond the implementation of the SNLE 3G program, the contract between TechnicAtome and ECA Group is part of a broader collaboration. ECA Group already equips the Barracuda-class nuclear attack submarines currently in service and under construction, as well as the current Le Triomphant-class ballistic missile submarines. The nuclear power plant of the 3G SSBNs, designed—like all naval nuclear propulsion power plants—by TechnicAtome, incorporates significant innovations.
