TechnicAtome stands by the side of Philippe Hartz for the Figaro race
22 March 2021
This Monday, March 22, Philippe Hartz takes us all along on his sporting adventure aboard his Figaro Bénéteau 3. With his sailboat’s hull adorned in blue and red, he’s preparing to set sail for the first leg of the Figaro Circuit, the Solo Maître Coq, off the coast of Les Sables d’Olonne.
Chief Petty Officer Philippe Hartz, a 39-year-old former Navy commando based in Toulon, is embarking on this 6-stage circuit with his sights set on the52ndedition of La Solitaire du Figaro, which will begin on August 22. For his first solo race, Philippe Hartz will be able to count on the support of the French Navy and the Fondation de la Mer, as well as TechnicAtome, which is standing by his side for this athletic and charitable challenge. You can follow his journey on our social media channels—Twitter and LinkedIn—and, of course, cheer him on via his Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Philippe Hartz will be taking his first steps as a solo sailor, but he is by no means a novice skipper. He has already won the French and European 420 championships, both alongside Adrien Hardy. And to prepare for this race, he received top-notch advice from Yann Eliès, a three-time winner of La Solitaire du Figaro. He hopes to secure a spot on the podium among the rookies at La Solitaire du Figaro.
A “solo” race, but above all one of solidarity!
Philippe Hartz wants to share this sailing experience with war veterans and wards of the state by inviting them aboard his boat between legs. The competition will also serve as an opportunity to promote ocean conservation and highlight the many initiatives of the Fondation de la Mer on his social media channels.
Partnering with TechnicAtome and displaying our logo on his sailboat was a natural choice for Chief Petty Officer Philippe Hartz: “To me, TechnicAtome represents the nuclear power plants that power my Navy comrades, and I’m very happy to count you among my sponsors. I want you to enjoy this adventure to the fullest.”
