Le project “SMR France” registered in energy pluriannual program and nuclear strategic contract

On Monday, January 28, the Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition published the draft Multi-Year Energy Plan (PPE) and signed the Strategic Contract for the Nuclear Industry (CSFN), enabling the concrete implementation of the PPE’s guidelines regarding nuclear energy.

The SMR France project is now included in these two documents, which thus offer a new outlook for the nuclear sector—and in particular for the French SMR project—in which TechnicAtome plays a central role alongside EDF as the lead partner and in collaboration with the CEA and Naval Group.

The text of the draft PPE thus confirms that the SMR project—currently in the pre-preliminary design phase—is technologically innovative and promising for the renewal of the nuclear industry, highlighting the key characteristics and strengths of the French proposal. It also confirms that preliminary design studies will be initiated based on the results of the studies currently underway.
