2021 financial results : a robust financial position confirmed
22 March 2022
The financial statements for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2021, were approved by TechnicAtome’s Board of Directors on March 18, 2022.
At €452 million, revenue is up significantly following the slight decline in 2020 (€400 million). Profitability has risen very slightly to just over 14%. On the operational front, the company saw its projects progress as planned, consolidating its role as a key industrial player in naval nuclear propulsion. In line with this momentum, the company’s workforce grew across all business lines, surpassing the 1,800-employee mark by year-end.
In 2021, the Navy’s two major future nuclear programs entered new phases. Following the decision announced in late 2020, preliminary design studies for the two propulsion reactors of the next aircraft carrier began early in the year; furthermore, the third-generation SSBN program has been in the implementation phase since February. Following the November 2020 delivery of the first production vessel in the Barracuda program, comprehensive testing of the boiler system on the second vessel, the Duguay Trouin, took place in the fall of 2021 with fully satisfactory results.
Work continued on the preliminary design for the Nuward SMR (small modular reactor) project led by EDF, for which TechnicAtome is designing the reactor vessel. It is scheduled for completion by the end of the year. The project enjoys active support from the government as part of the France 2030 plan.
“2021 confirmed TechnicAtome’s positive trajectory, with a sustained workload and programs at all stages of development that involve significant challenges. As the company prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2022, we are delighted to have such bright prospects ahead of us, with plenty of challenging and exciting work to be done—and, as a result, to create a large number of high-level jobs,” said Loïc Rocard, CEO of TechnicAtome.
