Meet TechnicAtome at WNE
17 November 2023
TechnicAtome will participate in the World Nuclear Exhibition (WNE), the international civil nuclear energy trade show, from November 28 to 30, 2023. Alongside its subsidiary Arcys, TA will showcase the progress of its reactor and nuclear facility projects at booth J33. Foremost among these are the company’s participation in the Nuward SMR (Small Modular Reactor) project and the development of analog safety control systems for the EPRs at Hinkley Point C in England.
The Nuward project, launched in 2019, drives innovation while building on lessons learned from operating reactors—both civilian reactors and the compact reactors designed by TechnicAtome. The project team includes EDF, TechnicAtome, the CEA, and Naval Group, recently joined by Framatome, Edvance, and Tractebel, the Belgian nuclear engineering firm, thereby enabling NUWARD SMR to benefit from a unique level of expertise.
Complementary to high-power reactors, SMRs could offer, in addition to electricity generation, combined heat and power for various purposes: industrial heat, hydrogen production, and seawater desalination—all applications that align with the interests of new customers seeking to meet international goals for combating global warming.
A space dedicated to innovation—and specifically to innovations developed by TA employees—will showcase five technologies through videos. Visitors will discover how the design of compact reactors incorporates cutting-edge technologies and adapts them to the nuclear environment. Visitors will also be able to immerse themselves in the world of TechnicAtome’s projects through an augmented reality experience organized at the booth.
For TechnicAtome, WNE is an opportunity not only to engage with its industrial partners but also to meet international experts and decision-makers in the sector.
