TechnicAtome presents at the IAEA general conference

The66thAnnual General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was held from September 26 to 30 in Vienna, Austria.

TechnicAtome was present at the French booth alongside all the major players in the French nuclear industry. TechnicAtome is involved in several large-scale projects in the field of civil nuclear energy. Its expertise is notably being applied to the CEA’s Jules Horowitz Reactor (RJH) project and the Nuward SMR project.

The RJH, currently under construction in Cadarache, is a project unique in Europe, for which TechnicAtome is the original designer, supplier of the reactor core, and primary contributor to the project management. This 21st-century research reactor is intended to deepen our understanding of how materials behave under irradiation and will also produce radioisotopes for medical use.

Drawing on its expertise in compact reactors, TechnicAtome is innovating through the design of the integrated reactor for the NuwardTMSMR project, a small modular power reactor developed in collaboration with EDF, the CEA, and Naval Group. This reactor aims to meet the vast demand for carbon-free electricity, while being simpler to understand than large reactors—and therefore less expensive and easier to integrate into power grids.

TechnicAtome is active in cutting-edge fields related to nuclear power reactors. This is the case for the two EPRs at Hinkley Point C in the United Kingdom, for which TechnicAtome is supplying an emergency control and monitoring system.
TechnicAtome’s participation in the conference serves to further strengthen ties with the international organization and to establish contacts for potential future business relationships.
